TOURNAMENT RULES
Teams: The tournament consists of 8 teams, with each team comprising 8 players total and 5 players on the court at a time.
Warmups: Warmups are 10 minutes long before each game
Game Duration: Each game is divided into four quarters, each lasting 10 minutes, with a 2-minute break between quarters, 10 minute halftime, and 10 minute warm ups.
Timeouts: Each team is allowed three 1-minute timeouts per game. Unused timeouts do not carry over to subsequent quarters or games. Timeouts may be called by players or coaches.
Substitutions: Teams may substitute players during dead ball situations or timeouts. The player leaving the court must wait until the substitution is completed before re-entering the game.
Jump Ball: The initial possession is determined by a jump ball. Alternating possession rule is in effect for subsequent jump balls.
Out-of-Bounds: The team that did not touch the ball last is awarded possession from the sideline for throw-ins. If the ball goes out-of-bounds on a shot attempt, the opposing team gains possession.
Shot Clock: A 24-second shot clock is in effect for each possession. Failure to release a shot within the allotted time results in a turnover.
ELAM Ending: The tournament adopts the ELAM (Elam Ending) format. In the last quarter, the game clock is turned off when 4 minutes are remaining. At that point, a target score is set by adding 8 points to the leading team's score. The first team to reach or surpass the target score wins the game.
Personal Fouls: A player will be disqualified after their 6th personal foul.
Bonus: On the 5th foul of each quarter, all non-shooting fouls will be awarded 2 FT’s.
Technical Fouls: Technical fouls are assessed for unsportsmanlike conduct, excessive arguing, or intentional delays. The opposing team is awarded two free throws and possession of the ball.
Goaltending: A player cannot touch the ball on its downward flight towards the rim, nor can a player reach through the basket to play, or alter the flight of the ball.
Player Disqualification: A player will be disqualified upon receiving their 5th personal foul or 2 technical fouls during a game.
Coaching: Coaches are allowed to communicate with players during timeouts and halftime. Coaching from the sidelines during gameplay is permitted but must be done in a respectful manner.
Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is expected from all participants, including players, coaches, and spectators. Any unsportsmanlike behavior may result in penalties or ejection from the game at the discretion of the officials.
Injuries: If a player is injured, the roster cannot be modified to replace the vacant spot. For instance, if you have a 15-player roster and one player is injured, the roster must consist of 14 players, all belonging to the original team.
Note: These rules are subject to modification or adjustment by the tournament organizers or officials to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the competition.
